A salute to sir

There was a man
Whom built a nation with his hands,
One tree at a time
A reservoir of clean water.

Father of a family
Breadwinner of a country
The roads signed by his name
Tamed this roaring city.

Buildings rise high,
Almost touching the sky.
From a leader to a visionary
A legendary moulder.

He found us,
Made us grow as one.
Gave us a name
He called us…
Singaporeans.

As I look left and right
Sitting in the bus.
Singaporeans everywhere.
Shop houses transformed to beautiful tall skyline scenes.

What Singapore was,
he changed it.
What is,
Is his

He build a nation with his life
And we call it home.
We salute you sir, for what you did.
