Tattooed love

When you told me you love me

I tattooed your name on my heart

Wound a cord of promise around my wrist

And that was my best mistake.

Now the ink are like laser burns

leaving the edges raw and red.

A bracelet of barbed wire tightened

and pulled leaving the pain growing.

What a long rough road to take.

My foolishness has build my burden

What can I say?

The once burning heart of passion

has faded to silent looks at each other.

A millimetre too close, an inch too far.

So near, but our hearts locked behind the bars.
